Did You Know...missing a CAP meeting or activity only affects your membership status when it is not for a school or CAP-sanctioned event.  Check out CAPR 52-16 for more info.

What are we gonna do now?

The signup for winter encampment is now open on TexasCadet.org on the right side of the page.  Everyone is eligible for encampment.  Deadline is 1 December.  You need to have the commander's signature and the last time he'll be available before the deadline is this coming week (20 November).  If you've gone to a previous encampment, sign up for ATS.  If you've gone to ATS, sign up as staff.  It's a great experience and you'll have a good time.

The honor guard is making great strides in getting prepared for the awards banquet on 11 December.  The focus will continue to be on preparing the cadets for this honorific occasion.  Honor guard uniforms will be issued in  the very near future to ensure adequate time to get them completely prepared.  Keep an eye on this page for more information.

The TX-023 Cadet Honor Guard training continued at this last Thursday's meeting.  Cadets are choreographing their ceremony and will continue during the drill activity times.  Cadet Goecker, Honor Guard Manager, or Cadet Simkins, Honor Guard NCO should be addressed with any questions regarding the honor guard.

Wreaths Across America is quickly approaching.  We still need to sell as many wreaths as possible.  Remember, we are soliciting wreaths for veteran's graves.  Our goal is to place wreaths on the 500 veteran graves at Belvedere Cemetary on Arden Road.  We are still far from our goal.  Please ensure you are making every effort to support this worthwhile cause.  The local deadline has been extended to 20 November to get checks and forms to 1st Lt Augustine.  Simply, mention it to people you come in contact with and let them know the significance of the event.  If they ask how they can donate, direct them to our website.  The link is on the main page.  Our squadron gets a portion of the sales price, so the money will be put to good use for not only Cadet Programs, but the other activities the squadron undertakes throughout the year.

Questions regarding CPFT have arisen.  The primary question is "will CPFT only be available monthly on the first Saturday as part of Emergency Services training?"  The answer to this question is three-fold:  1) Yes, CPFT will continue to be part of the first Saturday Emergency Services training as it provides a portion of the meeting when we will already be sweaty, grimy, and dirty from the training; 2) Yes, CPFT is a requirement for promotion and therefore should be made available at least monthly; 3) Per CAP Regulation 52-16, cadets plan the meetings based on CAP Regulation 52-16, paragraph 1-5, and figure 1-1. If you desire CPFT to be conducted at another time, please contact to your squad leader and cadet staff.

Until Thursday evening, RAPTORS RULE!
