Even though it was a holiday weekend, the San Angelo Composite Squadron members kept busy with activities on Saturday, April 11.
On Saturday morning, squadron members assisted with parking vehicles at the ninth annual TLC (Tree of Life Church) Easter egg hunt. Cadets Senior Master Sergeant Cody McCallum, Master Sergeant Christopher Levesque, Senior Airmen Nathaniel Ferguson, Daniel Martinez, and Niklas McCallum, and Airmen Tucker Hermes and Solie Espinoza, with the assistance of First Lieutenants David and Johanna Augustine directed and parked vehicles from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. With an estimated crowd of 10,000 people expected to arrive for the 12:00 p.m. start time, squadron members were quickly put to the test of handling a large number of vehicles arriving in a very short time period. Everyone also had a chance to work on their public relations skills, as cadets and seniors were asked a variety of questions, to include what organization did we belong and what is the CAP mission. Once parking duties were completed, everyone had a chance to enjoy the free drinks and food provided by TLC. Later in the evening, the squadron cadet Color Guard performed at the San Angelo Stampede-Express Intense Football League game at the San Angelo Coliseum. Cadets Senior Master Sergeant Cody McCallum, Master Sergeant Brian DeLaughter, Staff Sergeant Dylan Simkins, Senior Airmen Daniel Martinez and Niklas McCallum, and alternate Airman Solie Espinoza were on hand to present the colors to the large crowd of football fans during the National Anthem and the pre-game prayer. After presenting the colors and returning to the sidelines, the cadets were invited to stay for the football game between the San Angelo Stampede-Express and the Odessa Roughnecks, won in the waning moments by the Stampede-Express, 56-55. |
